I love stripes. Wide stripes, thin stripes, nautical stripes and French girl stripes, stripes are my favorite “print”. I am sure that this is why I find Bailey 44 so irresistible. I equate the pleasure of trying on jeans with that of trying on swimsuits….pure torture. That is until I discovered Yoga Jeans. You would have to have been living under a rock to not have heard all of the hype over the Missoni for Target. It was insane. And yes, they had some cute items at reasonable prices. But let me tell you, nothing compares to the REAL Missoni!!! We carry M Missoni at Barbara Katz and it is amazing. I know the prices are higher than that at Target but one touch of M Missoni will tell you why…..the quality is AMAZING!! We have a great assortment of M Missoni at Barbara Katz right now…off the shoulder tops, dresses, cardigans and we just got in a fabulous shipment of M Missoni scarves and they are to die for!!! I encourage you to try the “real thing” at Barbara Katz!!!
While at Coterie I got to look at Michael Stars Spring 2012 collection. Can I just say how much I love this line? The fabrics are amazing, the colors and prints are spot on and they really know how to cut a great top that can take you ANYWHERE. We just got our first shipment of Michael Stars at Suite 602 and now I understand why so many people are addicted to this label. You must try it on to truly appreciate it!!
Coterie in NYC was amazing! I think every manufacturer on the face of the planet was there showing their Spring lines. Just a quick note on what will be a MUST for Spring 2012:
1. Blouses, shirts and tunics. EVERYONE was showing silk, chiffon and cotton blouses, shirts and tunics. Tye dyes, ombres, watercolors, prints and jewel tones were especially exciting. Tunics were beautiful and ranged from printed cottons to beautifully embellished. Perfect for Florida dressing!
2. Boxy silhouettes still rule. Shorter, boxy blouses, tees and sweaters were the newest shape. Also on every line were hi lo tops (shorter in the front and longer in the back) and dolman sleeves. I find this so exciting as these are shapes that EVERYONE can wear!!!
3. Print pants are back!! Soft silk PJ style pants, print cargos and print capris are on nearly every line. The best prints were ikats, ethnic prints, stripes and soft florals.
4. Color—designers went crazy for color. In particular, mango, orange, pinks and aquas were especially pretty. Grounded by navy, white or neutrals, everyone looks pretty in these pop colors. Minnie Rose was inspired by the gorgeous colors of gelato…..the line looked FABULOUS
